Heres a couple more clips (Peugeot/Toyota)
#1
I have uploaded two more clips to Youtube of damp cold starts of the two cars I currently have access to. Hope you all Like themSmile I love the 1996 Toyota's hollow throaty exhaust sound and smell of the petrol exhaust fumes which are very rich and moorishBig Grin My 1997 306's exhaust smoke is just dirty and polluting as it pumps out. Shame i'm going have to scrap it sometime before christmas, i'm not nearly as excited about getting a newer carAngry Here's hoping I can afford a classic (70's) car next year sometime for some raw exhaust funBig Grin

Anyway here's those links:

Wow, looks like you certainly can have some fun. The exhaust of you GF's mothers Toyota looks good spitting and dribbling, btings back memories....

The 306 exhaust looks so sexy just vibrating while the engine is idling. Make sure you have some more fun with it before Christmas.

Have a look on ebay/gumtree ect. There are a few more 60's-80's cars around than you think, and often in very good conditions. Many are one owner car's bought when the owner retires, used for just shopping trips. They get too old to drive, park them up in the garage, and spend the rest of their life just polishing them. The families sometimes can be desperatre to get rid of them.

Buy a model if you can which is 'special' to you, like the Escort featured in you introduction. Make sure you find an owners club who will tell you of parts suppliers. I know it sounds a bit wierd, but most now have stainless steel exhausts available for them (not like that, but it helps) J. was recomended to buy one for his classic, between salt on the road, and short journies, a mild steel one wouldn't last long. All of his friends have them fitted, and don't cost a lot more than mild steel. Also a feature when selling, one less item to worry about rusting.

Check out the insurance prices for classic's as well- a lot cheaper than you think, J. only pays a THIRD of what he pays for his everyday runaround. He recons there is no difference in yearly running costs between the 2 cars, considering the classic has a lower MPG - and the servicing is easy, he does most of it himself.
